The Problem
A major manufacturing facility operating under GE’s Factory of the Future initiative needed to integrate an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) with existing production infrastructure. An automated guided vehicle (AGV) system picked up and delivered air craft engine components and distributed these to automated machining centers.
The Approach
Capnetix designed and implemented a database application to manage ASRS operations, tracking inventory location, movement, and retrieval requests in real time. The solution integrated the ASRS with the plant’s existing production systems, automated material handling workflows, and incorporated the machining cells into the overall production data architecture. Custom interfaces were built to give operators and management real-time visibility into material flow and inventory status.
The Result
The facility achieved fully automated end to end material handling with real-time inventory tracking across the ASRS and machining centers. — advancing the facility’s Factory of the Future objectives.
